The reason for this is that the style of Zone Poker encourages both, disbelief and bad play. People get into a mode of playing fast, fast, fast, which means they’re often spending less time thinking about the correct play. Decisions tend to be more emotional, and many players are steaming from previous hands.
If you hit post-flop and feel strongly about your hand, don’t be shy about over-betting. Opponents tend to overvalue their hands in Zone Poker, plus overbets also tend to encourage disbelief (if you actually had a big hand why would you bet so big?). In many cases, if your opponent is willing to call a bet of 1/2 the pot, they’ll also be willing to call a full pot sized bet – so get paid when you have a monster. You’ll generally get paid off more often than you would in a regular cash game, so you should be using the stye of the game to your benefit.

Winning a pot of 60 chips won’t do you much good when the blinds are 200/400 or higher, so there are only two reasons to play early hands – to win BIG pots, and to develop your table rep.
